Hello friends! I thought it would be helpful if I explain how I review books that way you can get the most out of each review. I've formatted this post like a regular book review, and I will explain what I include in each part. I hope this is helpful!

Book Overview

Stack of vintage books on a worn wooden table against a plain gray background, with faded titles visible.

In this section, I will include a photo of the book cover and a description of the plot, which is usually just the blurb on the back cover.

Content Review

Romance

Here, I will talk about the type of romance (if any) and how detailed it was, including any kisses. I describe how detailed a kiss is by how long it is. If it is just mentioned but not described, or lasts only a sentence, it is a non-detailed kiss. If it takes up a couple of sentences to a paragraph, it is a semi-detailed kiss. If it is more than a paragraph, I would call it a very detailed kiss (something I am usually uncomfortable with) and may add some extra "very"s if it is too much. 😂 I'll also talk about any other parts of the romance that may have been too much, or parts that I particularly enjoyed! (All without spoilers)

Negative Elements

Here, I will talk about other negative elements the book may have, including violence, sensitive topics, or profanity. I use a 1-5 level system so that I can quickly tell you how detailed/intense it was without giving you spoilers. 1 means it was mentioned but not detailed, 3 means there were some details given, and 5 means it was extremely detailed. You will typically see something like this:

Alcoholism- 2

This means that this book contained alcohol that was mentioned, but not in much detail. It could mean that maybe a side character was said to be a drinker and he had too much to drink one night, and that's all the book says about it.

Anything I rate in this section is not necessarily a negative element; it is just something I think readers below a certain age or with certain sensitivities should be aware of.

Positive Elements

Here, I will write positive elements of the book. I typically don't write much here because a lot of positive things that happened would be spoilers like "at the end of the book, X character gave their heart to the Lord." Depending on the book, I will primarily say if there was faith content and how in-depth it was.

Tropes/Themes

Here, I will list some of the tropes, whether it be enemies to lovers, marriage of convenience, second chance romance, etc., so you can see if this book is maybe something you'll enjoy!

Conclusion ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Here, I will simply give you my concluding thoughts and a star rating! Here is an approximate guide for my star ratings:

⭐️ I struggled to finish this book and would rather burn it than recommend it.

⭐️⭐️ I struggled to finish the book and would not recommend it. I probably won't read anything else by this author.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ I read the book and enjoyed it. It's not my favorite book, and I probably won't read it again, but I would recommend it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I read and enjoyed this book immensely. Not quite a five-star, but almost.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I loved this book! I couldn't put it down, I'm dying to talk about it, and I'm disappointed it's over!

I hope this post is helpful if you ever need clarification on how my rating system works.
